Part 3, Our Holy Creator God

Our Holy Creator God

Isaiah 40:25-31

Introduction: Our Creator God is holy (40:25).

“ 'Holy One' is the killing blow to any thought of a comparison! It is not only his power (12), wisdom (13-14), dignity (15-17), sovereignty (22-23) and authority (24) that put him beyond compare. Of far more significance is his unattainable, unassailable moral perfection." (Motyer)

      I. God’s Holy Attention (40:26)

              A. Evidence of our omnipotent Creator (40:26a)

               B. Our omnipotent Creator’s awareness (40:26b-c)

                     1. Our Creator God’s attention to detail (40:26b)

                     2. Our Creator God’s ability to deliver (40:26c)

      II. Our Unholy Assumption (40:27)

               A. “God is preoccupied and does not see what’s going on in my life.”

               B. “God does not care about what’s going on in my life.”

III. Access to our Holy Creator God (40:28-31)

               A. The attributes of God (40:28)

                       1. Eternal existence and comprehensive involvement (40:28b)

                       2. Power and understanding (40:28c)

               B. The availability of grace (40:29-31)

                       1. He gives power and strength (40:29)

                       2. For those who wait on Him (40:30-31)

Conclusion: Our Creator God is Holy

• He is intimately involved in the circumstances of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

• The assumption that God is too preoccupied to notice what’s going on in our life, is an expression of our sinfulness.

• Though our God is transcendent in His attributes, He is imminent and intimate in His care for us. We must wait on the Lord.

"The wrong inference from God’s transcendence is that he is too great to care; the right one is that he is too great to fail." (Motyer)
