Our God

Isaiah 49:14-50:3

 

      I. He is the loving God of the covenant (Isaiah 49:14-21). 

            A. God is unlike the best of mankind (49:14-18b) 

            B. Regardless of the current situation (49:18c-21) 

                  1. Adornment (49:18c) 

                  2. Awakening (49:19) 

                  3. Amazement (49:20-21) 

(cf. Is. 61:3) 

 

      II. He is the Sovereign God who conquers (Isaiah 49:22-26). 

            

(cf. Col. 1:13-15; Luke 4:18)

 

      III. He is the gracious God who redeems (Isaiah 50:1-3). 

            A. He redeems from sin (50:1-2b). 

                  1. Check the record (50:1a-b). 

                  2. Acknowledge your sin (50:1c). 

            B. He redeems through faith (50:2-3). 

                  1. Where is faith? (50:2a-b) 

                  2. What is the appropriate object of faith? (50:2c-3)

 

      Conclusion: Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise.

(cf. Eph. 5:15-16; 4:17-18)


            A. Few American evangelicals are aware that they are in covenant with God. No wonder that they feel spiritual devastated and exiled.(cf. Eph. 2:11-13)


            B. Only God can cause spiritual awakening. Only God can conquer the forces of evil.

(cf. Eph. 1:11, 16-21)


            C.  To experience redemption, but we must acknowledge our sin and trust His hand.

(cf. Eph. 1:7; Col. 1:14)
