New To Parkway?
What can I expect when I visit Parkway?
You can expect to be warmly greeted at the door and welcomed into a loving and faithful body of believers who are happy you decided to visit. You can expect Bible teaching and preaching that is true to the original text as well as relevant for the times in which we live. You can expect worship music that sounds distinctively sacred.
Is childcare provided?
During worship services, childcare is provided for all babies from infant to three years of age.
How do I become a member?
Believing that church membership is a privilege, as well as a responsibility, joining Parkway Baptist Church is more than just walking an aisle. We want to get to know you and we want you to get to know us. To facilitate this, we have a Discovering Parkway class, taught by Pastor Jerry Halbrook, that is available to all prospective members. Discovering Parkway presents the beliefs, values, philosophy, ministry and governance of our congregation.
-
The first session sets forth a case for meaningful church membership, discussing conversion, baptism and the Lord's Supper.
-
The second session presents our understanding of the believer's sanctification (personal growth in holiness), through his or her union with Christ in death, burial, ressurection and enthronement.
-
The third session explains the values on which Parkway's ministries are based.
-
The fourth session discusses the difference between our gathering and our going, based on the Great Commandment of Luke 10:27 and the Great Commission of Matthew 28:18-20.
-
The fifth and final session explains our form of governance: plural-elder-led congregationalism. It sets forth the biblical case for plural-elder leadership, non-authoritative deacon service, and the context of congregationalism.
Following the class, you will have an informal Q&A with one of our elders. After this, if you believe it is God's will for you to join our fellowship, you will be presented to our congregation by a church elder for membership.
