A Firm Foundation

Jul 15, 2009

As you drive by the church property, you see a lot of different types of heavy equipment moving back and forth doing their work.  The focus of the current work is the foundation for the new worship center.  Our soil isn't the best, so it was necessary to dig down many feet to get to bedrock, then fill in with good soil, compact it and make ready for the piers to be poured.  Without a good, solid foundation, the building wouldn't be able to stand up to the movement of the soil during the various seasons of the year.  It would be tested by much rain, scourging heat and the like.  It is likely that we would begin seeing cracks in the foundation and the supporting walls.

We, too, need a solid, firm foundation to support us when we weather the storms of life.  As I watched the men working so hard out in the sweltering heat over the past couple of weeks, I was reminded of what God said in Isaiah 28:16, "...Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed.  He who believes in it will not be disturbed."

Please keep praying for the safety of the construction workers as they do the Lord's work.  And remember, the church's One Foundation is Jesus Christ the Lord!!
