The greatest missionary to walk on the planet said "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you (John 20:21). In the book of Acts we see Jesus sending His disciples through the Holy Spirit who would come upon them and make them witnesses for the cause of Christ.
As a result of Stephen's being stoned to death, the church in Jerusalem was "scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria" (Acts 8:1b). Philip went down to Samaria to proclaim the gospel, and the Lord sent him to Gaza, where Philip would share the gospel with the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:5, 26-27). Saul met Christ on the road to Damascus and was eventually sent to the gentiles to proclaim the good news (Acts 9). The Lord sent Peter to Caesarea to evangelize those gathered at Cornelius' home.
In Romans 10:14-15, Paul addressed this idea of "sending." But how are they to call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?
